The Librarian Goes to the BIG School...

Actually I've been in school now for several years to get my Masters in Library Science. The current class I am taking requires more work than usual plus a type of internship at a "real" library - real being one that is run by an MLS. That is why I have been scarce around CCA this semester. I am doing the internship at a GIGANTIC Technical High School - Greater Lowell Technical High School . It supports about 23 shops plus the full academic load of a high school. My assignment is to create a Collection Development Policy Manual for the school. I am the only one in my class working in this area; and there is actually not much in our professional literature either about schools of this type...so once again I get to plow new ground. This time though I have a great guide in the GLTHS librarian, Mr. Hall. He is very experienced with years in the field plus he is so cutting edge that he's the one who alerts the school to new technology - way cool for a librarian. I think I want to be like him when I grow up...

Here is how big GLTHS is compared to CCA:

I am required to evaluate a portion of their collection, so I am working on the 10,000 videos and am homing in on Automotive videos....who knew there could be so much film devoted to car body work?! Gotta get back to work...
