Here's what's circulating...
"Junie B. Jones" - a series about a first grader is the most popular by far according to our checkout statistics. Following behind is the "Left Behind" series, "American Girl" series, and joke books. Oh and how can I forget the ever popular "Captain Underpants". If we had two copies of every book in that series we'd still have kids wanting more. One of my favorite memories of working here is hearing a sixth grade boy bargain with a fellow student over the last copy of "Capt. Underpants". I strongly suspect a future in politics or law for that boy...
It is good to see some of the classics checked out too and I don't think it's because it was assigned by a teacher...these are
- "White Fang",
- "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde",
- "The Complete Sherlock Holmes, V1 and 2",
- "The Lord of the Rings",
- "Treasure Island",
- "Pollyanna"
- "The Black Arrow"
Cat books remain popular as do books on snakes and World Records Almanacs. The series on behaving well by Joy Berry is also being used. Some surprises are a coffee table book on Spanish Art and a book on fractions....who knew?!
