Progress on processing donations
Library Goals for 2005-2006: Catalog all science for all grades and all fiction for grades 5 to 8
Most of the non-animal science is now awaiting data-entry into the catalog. I will leave the animal books for use as a training tool for new cataloguers. The subjects are usually specific enough to make classifying them fairly obvious. I expect to do training in August.
Our donations are a bit in disarray...we have been so blessed we have piles all about. Mostly my fault since I was so behind in classifying. In the meantime, I will bring in some covered plastic boxes that will better protect our books while they are awaiting processing. This will keep them from getting dusty, damaged, etc.
I will be bringing home 3 boxes of novels and biographies to classify for the older grades. The PTO donated from their annual book fair - among many awesome books - the classic biography series Childhood of Famous Americans; at least 10 volumes - even one on Roberto Clemente! Someone else donated an extremely valuable and age appropriate, 20+ volume, series on the world's greatest composers. The quality is staggering. I'll also be processing a series of classics - abridged. These should substantially increase the amount of reading choices for our middle schoolers.

Hi there. You re busy as alsways. I spoke with Mrs. T today. She restated that you have som concerns over the DRAFT selection policy we created. Lets set up a time to chat about your concers and where the policies origionate from. We can certainly remeet and we expected to have to modify the policy. Let me know. To ans. the ? about where the dinosaur books are. I think the box with Challanged books in it have been donated to a public library. We tried to "clean up at bit and condense(sp?)" So anything that was not really in adherense with the initial policy was discarded. The books did not give general info. but rather info. regarding "million and millions of years ag. We felt that the children could obtain that info. anywhere. and this being a Christian library and a Christian school we would reserve our books to a Biblical persepective. Sorry if that wasn't your intention. We don't mean to over step our bounds. Will talk soon. LM
