Our First Month...

During our first month, I have been busy showing the teachers how to use the catalog so they can begin bringing their classes in. It is unclear when the library will be staffed by parent -volunteers, so we are making sure the teachers can help their students use the library and check out books for them.

During each teacher's orientation, I have been finding out their students' immediate needs and checking out those books under the teacher's name. This is how we have gotten Insect books into the 4th grade; Poetry helps into the 5th grade; Community Helpers into K5 and identified a number of resources in our unyet catalogued donations to be catalogued ASAP for the 6th, 7th and 8th grades.

Mrs. Russell, our Art teacher, was the first to take out a book; she was very excited about a new Drawing Faces book from Usborne.

About 23 books have been loaned out - we want this number in the 3 digits and soon...

We have 985 books in the catalog - WOW - last November it was 500...

The PTO will be arranging the official Open House for the library when students can come in themselves and check out books - Oh, Happy Day! Stay tuned for details...
